Gauge Catch
1.94 in.
Notes
1.28" was measured in a bucket at midnight. Therefore 1.28" had fallen yesterday. 1.00" + 0.94" = 1.94" using rain gauge total when reading rain gauge this morning. 1.94" total using rain gauge - 1.28" using bucket to measure the 4/3/2025 total = 0.66" had fallen after midnight e.d.t. on 4/4/2025. Note the amounts of 1.28" and 0.66" were approximate because the bucket was only 10 feet from the house and the official rain gauge was not used; but the total of 1.94" was measured with the official rain gauge. A bucket was used due to lightning safety where the distance is only 10 feet from the front porch where my gauge is about 60 feet from the house. Quickly brought the bucket in to house measured radius and used measuring cup because it was unsafe to read the gauge at midnight due to lightning. The total of 1.94" is accurate because the gauge is 60 feet from the house. The 1.28" and 0.66" were approximate since it was based on the bucket method last night at midnight and the bucket was only 10 feet from the porch and probably was too close to the building.
