6/18/2025 CO-TL-37Divide 5.2 SSW 0.39 Two hail storms on the 17th. The first came about around noon and I submitted a hail report on that event. Then rain and hail began to fall around 5:15pm and lasted for about two hours. This event included a period around 5:45 that had ping pong sized hail and continuous pea sized hail intermittently over a period of about two hours. The funnel of the rain gauge was clogged with soft white hail and intermixed large quarter size hail. At time of observation (6:00am on the 18th) there remains about 10% of the ground covered in hail that has not melted yet. Actual precipitation should be considered more than 0.39 that was in the catch report, but how much more is lost to measurement circumstances. Duration information below reflects the second hail event. The hail report submitted for the first event did not contain any precipitation data. precipitation from the first event stayed in the catch which was emptied at 6:00 am on the 18th and contains precipitation from both events.   View

6/18/2025 CO-BO-67Boulder 4.7 E 0.34 A few sprinkles and a little thunder ~1230, then the main event was an intense thunderstorm that began as hail and rain at 1340, with the heaviest precip over by ~1400. Max hail size was 5/8", most were pea and bigger, didn't cover the ground. Garden damage seemed minimal tho the hail lasted probably 5-10 min. Light precip continued to ~1430 with continuous thunder for a while as the storm moved away. Would have been nice to get more rain but that likely would have meant more hail. Cleared overnight with a low of 46   View

6/18/2025 CO-BO-266Lafayette 0.8 WSW 0.29 Quite a bit of rain and hail in about 15 minutes starting around 1:45 p.m.. The hail was up to about 1/2" in diameter. It damaged some vegetation (tree and plant leaves, plant stems) and accumulated in spots. I expect we had more liquid equivalent precipitation fall but some of the hail bounced out of the rain gauge.   View
