The weather is hot and the soil is dry. Field plants are growing very slowly this year, but roses, cacti and gardens are doing very well. Our May total precipitation was 1.07 which was more than twice the normal amount of 0.49. The water year total so far is 3.52 which is below the normal of 5.17. Most trees are healthy but some species are stressed and have yellow autumn leaves already, possibly due to the dryness before May. The June normal precipitation is 0.56 and the forecast is for almost this amount to fall next week. Our water supply is adequate. No fire weather concerns through the next three days as a substantial increase in moisture and thunderstorms is expected.
