Description:
October 3,2024 watsiga Co. NC
Observations from the hurricane. Open fields are very saturated and extremely wet. They are difficult to drive on. During the storm on Saturday morning September 28, the wind came from the north. And unusual direction for our location. There were three prime gusts of wind. Each one took large diameter trees drop them in my yard. One what is a hickory tree and two were red oak trees. Leaves on trees were shredded until most lost half their foliage. This was very true of maple trees and tulip poplar trees. Oak trees seem to hold their leaves. all of these trees fell pointing toward the south. The hickory tree landed on my home. As of this date we do not have electricity nor Internet. The wind was the loudest I have ever heard at this location, my residence. recovery efforts in this county are slow due to the extreme damage of falling trees and large volumes of moving water in creeks and rivers. local springs and rivers have not yet returned to their normal flow, they are however not at flood stage either. The roads look green in color because of the volume of leaves on them. I have no flooding issues at my location.
